What Is The Difference Between Persepolis Character Analysis Essays?
What Is The Difference Between Persepolis Character Analysis Essays?Persepolis, as many are aware of, is one of the most popular Iranian books, and it has been turned into a movie. Persepolis follows the life of a young girl in a village in rural Iran, as she moves from being a girl in her village to a woman in a new and different place. In this essay, we will examine how this story differs from many of the other Persepolis character analysis essays. In general, Persepolis focuses on a young girl's first encounter with the town that is home to her parents. Her life is spent there as they both grow up, and she goes through a series of emotional changes. The new environment that surround her makes for quite a read, and even if it is a fairly simple story, it can be very difficult to make sense of. We will explore some of the important issues from this story in this essay. One of the first things that stands out in Persepolis is the way that an outsider makes a large impact on the young g irl. While the viewer might assume that her parents have a large influence on her, that is far from the truth. The film follows the character much more closely than most other character analysis essays, and that might seem unfair at first. However, once we see how much that outsider can affect the story, we realize that we cannot give the outsider too much prominence.Another thing that makes Persepolis quite interesting is the fact that its main plot line is a long-running plot line. It follows the life of a young girl, but it doesn't seem like the family does a lot of planning. They tend to live on instinct, and when they don't act, chaos follows. As the events of the story progress, it becomes clear that the family is very rich, and they are not the sort of people who would be able to plan their lives. In fact, some characters speculate that the events of the story could have had an effect on their fortunes.Persepolis also features a young man, who does a lot of plotting. He is ve ry intelligent, and he seems to have a rather large role in the plot. However, he is also someone who can give the young girl with the gift of wisdom, and also perhaps persuade her into action. Finally, we should mention the relationship between the boy and the young girl. The two of them are very much involved in each other's lives, and they are very closely linked. They are strong and can make great decisions, and at times it seems that they become inseparable. For this reason, Persepolis is often seen as a family drama. Many people love the idea of family drama, and this makes for a great discussion topic.Persepolis is a great film, and it is very entertaining to read about it. If you want to learn more about its story, then you will find that this essay will give you a good introduction to the ideas and themes involved.
Are Colleges Worth the Price of Admissions free essay sample
Are colleges giving students a good value for their investment? What are individuals gaining from higher education? (179) These are some of the questions that authors Andrew Hacker and Claudia Dreifus, college professors, posed in an excerpt from their book, Higher Education? How Colleges Are Wasting Our Money and Failing Our Kids-and What We Can Do About It. Unfortunately, their findings are grim. They feel that colleges have lost track of their basic mission to challenge the minds of young people. The authors make nine proposals that colleges may want to consider, beginning corrective action on delivering a better valued education. The proposal , make students use their minds, resonated with me the most. Hacker and Dreifus felt that students should become more thoughtful and interesting people while attending college. They go on to outline in this proposal that colleges should persuade students to choose impractical studies as a way to receive a better return on their investment. We will write a custom essay sample on Are Colleges Worth the Price of Admissions or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page That Liberal Arts programs produce more thoughtful and interesting people is a point well taken; but that it equates education with better value has not been substantiated. The value of anything is solely determined by the recipient. Redirecting students away from, and downgrading Vocational Programs does not ensure a good education. Most students would agree that the reason they are attending college is to prepare for a career. The statistic Hacker and Dreifus cite, that 64 percent of undergraduates are enrolled in vocational majors (180), supports this reasoning. It is without question that impractical studies will challenge the mind, and foster creativity in students. However, to charge colleges with the mission to persuade students that the path to a valuable education is through impractical studies is presumptuous when it comes to value. Vocational studies do have value and should be treated with the same respect as Liberal studies. If the authorsââ¬â¢ research had gone beyond assumption and interviewed recent graduates of the two programs inà question and then presented those results, more stock could be taken in swaying students towards impractical studies. By the time students have reached the end of their undergraduate studies, they know that repaying the accumulated debt is priority. Aligning ones studies, whether impractical or vocational, with a career would result in a favorable disposition regarding value of the education one has received. This value motivates students to go in the first place. Hacker and Dreifus say that students should become more thoughtful and interesting people while at college (180). For most, these two traits are innate. Only requiring development by parents during primary stages of life. The quest to become an interesting person is not learned in the classroom. If ones primary goal in college is to become more interesting, they are wasting their money. Hacker and Dreifus ask what should happen to students at college. Simple, they should be gaining knowledge to help them become self-supported adults, productive members of society. According to Hacker and Dreifus, the undergraduate years are an interlude that will never come again (180). However, there is not an optimal time to attain a college education. The best education is received by the person who wants it; age is irrelevant. While Hacker and Dreifus claim that the offspring of professional parents are the only ones seizing the opportunity of a valuable education, blue collar workers and the working poor will repudiate the idea that they are not rearing college bound students ready to answer the call of higher education. There are many examples where the children of non-professional parents have succeeded in college. Being classified as poor or lower class is the very element that propels them to college to do better than their own parents. The upshot of all this is that the value of a college education is truly determined by the person who has acquired it, not by the amount of debts incurred to attain it, nor by what they chose to study.

Free Essays on A Retelling Of Noahs Ark
A Retelling of Noahââ¬â¢s Ark Timothy Findleyââ¬â¢s Not Wanted on the Voyage is a creative retelling of the biblical story of Noah and his wife and their journey on the ark. He successfully creates a parody, a humorous form of social commentary and literary criticism in which one work imitates another, by taking the ancient tale of Noahââ¬â¢s ark and acquainting the reader with what happened in between the lines (www.dictionary.reference.com). He constructs a world that offers many intriguing possibilities to the accepted tale that in a sense create many thought provoking ideas and statements of how the world is and really was. The book is divided into four parts. Book One, the arrival and death of the novelââ¬â¢s God, Book Two details the building of the ark, Book Three the flood-associated trials, and Book Four the conclusion of the novel. Findley successfully develops his parody of Noahââ¬â¢s Ark through elements of exaggeration, shock, and ridicule. In the novel, authority is highly exaggerated with Noahââ¬â¢s authoritarian, hierarchical view of the world (Bailey 145). Noahââ¬â¢s severe ways are exercised greatly with his treatment of women. According to Noah women exist to serve the needs of God as well as himself and his sons (Bailey 132). Mrs Noyes, Hannah and Mottyl may have opinions and desires of their own but they must be subordinated to the authority of their husbands, fathers and lovers. Noah demonstrates his ill treatment of women when he kills Japethââ¬â¢s brother who is born an ape-child, despite Mrs. Noyesââ¬â¢ pleas to let the baby live. Noah treats his wife with even more disingenuousness when he decides that his wife will live below the ark and she has no choice but to go. Noah is very cold-hearted and will treat his own wife horribly as long as his civilized paternal hierarchy is in order. Clearly, Noahââ¬â¢s authoritative ways are demonstrated through his nasty treatment of his wife. Noahââ¬â¢s passion for authority is als... This is another argument that will be good for you to get to on your paper. In the last paragraph you should have written something that you think will hel p you see where you're coming from.
